Just a tip from a kindergarten teacher for you mommies looking for an educationally related playdough idea. I call it “secret sculptures.” Choose a letter of the alphabet and have your children create something that begins with that letter. Keep it a secret and have someone try to guess what it is. Or your child can simply roll out “snakes” and form the capital and lowercase letters. It is a good idea to give kids the skills of rolling snakes, making pancakes, forming balls, adding texture using various safe tools, and creating 3-D sculptures prior to doing this activity. Enjoy!

LOVE this play dough recipe! It lasts FOREVER!!
Can you use this recipe though, to bake ornaments? I am so sick of the typical salt dough and how no matter how hard I try it always ends up looking cracked, or how easily it breaks…

We use this recipe all the time. Instead of food colouring we use sugarfree Koolaid packages. Smells great and vibrant colors!

Thanks for the recipe!
I am a kindergarden teacher and I go through a LOT of play dough and the parents always ask for the recipe.

You can find neon food colouring which makes wonderfully vibrant colours. I start the year off with 4 batches and make a double-batch once a month. My little friends always have some new colours to play with and it doesn’t leave a crumbly residue on their hands or the tables.
