Correction To Article Referencing BC Children Receiving $100 Climate Dividend Cheque

In my article How Long Items Take To Decompose In Landfills, I recommended that BC families receiving their $100 per family member climate dividend cheque actually use a portion of it to ‘green’ their household.  I had written that you needed to register your children via a form so they could recieve their $100.  The Vancouver Sun article from May 31st confirms that this is actually not required.  Here is an article excerpt from it’s author Jonathan Fowlie:

The B.C. government is attempting to reassure parents they don’t need to take extra measures to receive their children’s $100 climate action dividend cheques.  You will automatically receive payment for your children who are under the age of 18, as of Dec. 31, 2007, if you have filed your 2006 or 2007 income tax return and your children are registered for the Canada Child Tax Benefit with the Canada Revenue Agency,” said a notice posted on the government’s website in response to the concern.”

Good news for us parents (ok, I mean myself) that haven’t attempted to get the form done yet.  No need to proceed with that,  now I can just plan ways to spend my ‘green’ money.  hmmmm….note to self.  Must stay off Etsy over the next few days.  <smile>
