Leave Nothing But Footprints Contest

Sponsored by: Leave Nothing But Footprints

Hosted by: Mommy Footprint

Leave Nothing But Footprints is a company I’ve had my eye on for years. They are a great example of a company manufacturing clothing overseas using slow fashion practices, only working with suppliers who have safe working environments, treat their workers ethically and pay them fair wages – NEVER working with sweatshops. I was curious how the fibers of the clothing would feel against my very sensitive skin (really hard for me to wear synthetic fabrics) and I have to say, the Balance Top I’m wearing in the below picture, had me at hello on the LNBF website. Any new clothing I added to my wardrobe this season has been made from bamboo; it is such a soft, cozy material.

About Leave Nothing But Footprints

LNBF stands for Leave Nothing but Footprints – from the age-old saying…”Leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but memories”. Our mission is to empower women to create a sustainable world for future generations – starting with the clothes we wear. We want to minimize the impact fashion has on our environment. Which is why we do what we do: design stylish pieces for women who refuse to sacrifice on comfort or quality.

We are excited to bring you this amazing Giveaway for a $150 Gift Card to spend online at LNBF. I have become a bamboo fabric consumer this year and I’m very picky of any new clothing that enters my home. I really dislike waste and I only add one or two new items per season to my wardrobe. I love the feeling of wearing out my clothes and it makes me feel good to put clothing in the compost when it can’t be worn further. Why do I like bamboo? The process of growing bamboo compared to conventional cotton is different and better for the environment; especially if regular cotton is grown from GMO seed. I know there are different methods for how bamboo is processed, but LNBF turns their bamboo into viscose through a closed loop process to prevent environmental pollution. Read more about that here.

With a new season approaching (Yay Spring!!) who wouldn’t love to pick up a few items from this Canadian company? Take a peek through their website and see how comfortable their clothing essentials look! Thank you for the generous contest prize, let’s get on to the giveaway!

Blundstone Boot Review and Contest

Sponsored by: Blundstone Boots Canada

Hosted by: Mommy Footprint

Screen shot 2015-01-27 at 10.38.00 AM

Have you heard of Blundstone Boots? They are getting really popular in Vancouver, but what nailed down my desire to own a pair was visiting a Tack shop before Christmas. The equestrian store was filled with horse back riding gear and they’ve carried these boots for years because of their functionality and long lasting design. That is what sold me on these boots. Listening to people that have loved this brand for many years, because these boots do what so few brands do these days…and that is last. Over and over the testimonials from adults include that they’ve owned these boots for 20 years and just get them resoled. You also hear about the comfort these boots provide as well.  What is not to love!?

About Blundstone Boots Canada

“Worth it.” That’s what people say. The only problem with Blundstone boots is that they never seem to wear out. Oh, people try. But after a few years of kicking the bejeez out of them, they’re more comfortable than ever and still going strong. Expensive? Nope, they get cheaper by the day. Blundstone Canada is the Canadian distributor of Blundstone boots.

Holiday Glam & Contest with Triple Flip

Sponsored by: Triple Flip

Hosted by: Mommy Footprint

From a very early age, one of my twin daughters decided she didn’t want frilly, poofy looking dresses. So at around 4 years old,  she opted out of the holiday dress tradition. We now know she has sensory issues so maybe the itchy fabric with the dressier clothing might have contributed to this decision. I always let my kids lead and never push clothing issues. So imagine my delight when this year, her little voice asked to try on a holiday dress while we were purchasing onesie PJs at Triple Flip. I kept my cool and casually handed her the dresses she liked. Both of my girls selected dresses from Triple Flip this year and I totally understand the excitement that goes along with the tradition of holiday dresses and imagining all the fun places to wear them!

tripleflip2

The above picture is  the holiday dress my daughter Sophia picked. From the minute she put it on, I could tell it was comfortable and none of the dresses in the Triple Flip Holiday Glam Collection scream Christmas, meaning they will get worn many times throughout the year.  Pictured below is the other dress carefully selected by my other daughter (middle blue with pockets called the Brianna dress).  I know, adorable. And I have to say, all the Triple Flip dresses are so classic but hip and modern that 7+ ages are gravitating to. I completely understand the different stages children have when it comes to picking out clothing; being involved in the process, not wanting to participate, etc. …I’m happy to embrace them all. Right now, my daughters want to be involved with shopping and I love teaching them the importance of spending our treasured consumer dollars carefully and with thought. They hear my questions in the store “where does this designer manufacture?” “what is this made from?” “tell me more about this Collection and how it fits”, etc.  I always leave the Coquitlam Centre Triple Flip store feeling like I’ve invested in more than just great clothing. I always have thoughtful discussions about the movement to manufacture clothing locally with store management and I leave a mainstream store feeling good, with incredibly happy children. The entire experience is a pleasure that always ends with happy faces.

About Triple Flip

Triple Flip – flipwear for the modern girl – fun, active, comfy! The Triple Flip stretch line is manufactured in Alberta, Canada proving that the ‘manufacture local’ emphasis is important to this clothing line. Shop online at www.tripleflip.ca!

You all know I love Triple Flip because of their dedication to manufacturing their house line (stretch-ware) locally. This combined with the fabrics that feel like butter next to my daughters’ skin – they are excited to wear the hip, fun fashion at Triple Flip and enjoy the comfort of how and what it’s made from. I have focused on holiday attire for this article, but I must give you the scoop on another Triple Flip product. Triple Flip manufactured their own line of onesies this year, 100% cotton and super comfy. I purchased two pairs for my girls and they LOVE them. It is so difficult to find 100% cotton PJs that don’t have polyester and flame retardants in the fabric, so if you can find any Triple Flip onesies left in a local or online store – pick up a pair!  The company isn’t re-printing these before the holidays and they are a ‘must have’ item.

To help you with your holiday shopping, Triple Flip is generously giving 1 lucky reader a $100 Gift Certificate to their store. This giveaway will be live for 5 days and is open to all Canadian and US residents.

Personalized Leggings with Twiga Clothing

Sponsored by: Twiga Clothing

Hosted by: Mommy Footprint

Twiga

I love local. And I admire companies that make the decision to manufacture locally in an industry that is mainly produced overseas – like athletic wear. It’s a much harder road but I think the rewards and awareness for these manufacturing standards is changing. Consumers know the value of slow fashion and all the hard work that goes behind making clothing carefully and close to home.

So I can’t wait to share the clothing company called Twiga Clothing. I love the story of owner Chuck making clothing for his niece. She loved the clothing and in recent years, begged him to make more. To make it special, he personalized the waistband with her name and the result was Twiga. Honestly, what little girl (or mom) wouldn’t want their name on both the waistband and leg band of athletic wear? A great idea coupled with a great story!

About Twiga Clothing

Every little girl is special, and every girl should know it. At Twiga, we make customizable, personalized leggings, shorts, yoga pants, and headbands for both you and her – all made from the highest quality materials right here in Canada.

We are excited to bring you the chance to win a comfy pair of Personalized Twiga leggings! They are made from the highest quality materials right here in Canada. The winner can select their leggings and have their name personalized on the waist and leg cuff.

Thank you to our VERY generous sponsor, Twiga Clothing for the chance to win these leggings! So, let’s get on to the giveaway!
