A Healthier Fruit Snack – Without The Artificial Coloring

Want to give your kids the occasional fruit snack and not worry about the artificial coloring or dyes that have been in the news recently? I went back to buying Brach’s Mott’s Fruit Snacks because of the recent news with food dye being linked to kid’s behavioral problems. This is the only brand of fruit snacks I can find that don’t contain any artificial coloring or dyes.

After writing an article about this topic, I knew a couple of things needed to change at my house…namely, fruit snacks, fruit roll-ups, and fruit loops. Francesco knows he’s on his last box of fruit loops and we’ve only bought the Brach’s fruit snacks and the kids are happy to eat them! They aren’t as colorful as the commercial fruit snacks and don’t have the characters from movies, but they taste better and I’ve explained to the boys about the dye that makes the other fruit snacks brighter to eat. This food item is more like candy than a ‘fruit’, but it’s nice to know that additional dye isn’t going into their little systems.
